We love our LapTopWraps. They're more than a product to us, they're the physical manifestation of a lot of our deeply-held values. If that sounds like a lot of baggage for a
small piece of, well, baggage to carry, our Wraps are built strong to handle it.
Recycled Materials
In a nutshell, our values can be summed up as trying to be part of solutions, not problems. First and foremost, we are ardent practitioners of "reduce, reuse, and recycle."
Our Wraps are made from recycled and reclaimed materials, both inside and out. We like to think of them as "rescued" materials, snatched, as it were, from the yawning
jaws of the landfill.
True to the original concept, we still use fabrics found around the house. We still line them with used bubblewrap or other packing materials. (We haven't figured out a way to
use recycled thread but if we could, we would!) We partner with local recycling centers to get our materials and we use every last inch of them so that what ultimately gets
thrown away is a tiny fraction of the amount we start with.
Unique, Original, Creative
We have a wide variety of fabrics from which we cut our Wrap components. From these individual pieces, our sewers are encouraged to mix and match in inventive and interesting
ways. Each LapTopWrap is sewn by a single individual and is therefore an expression of his or her creativity. You may not find each LapTopWrap beautiful, but each one
is unique. Choosing your Wrap is as much an expression of your own taste and personality as it is an assertion of our shared values.
If that's not personal enough for you, we offer additional options for customizing your LapTopWrap, even to the point of incorporating your own material into it!
Local Sourcing, Local Employment
It is never our intention to grow one huge production facility from which LapTopWraps will be sent all over the country and the world. We want our Wraps to be a reflection
of the regional and national community; so we envision small hubs of sewing teams serving geographically limited areas.
This organization has the added benefit of reducing our carbon footprint from transporting materials in and sending products out. It also enables us to achieve our goal of
using 100% recycled materials, as these materials are difficult to source efficiently on a large scale. By limiting our geographic reach, we can effectively partner with
local recycling centers and human support organizations to find great materials and great employees.
We are committed to hiring within the community and providing training as needed. While we want to maximize creativity and minimize tedium, we will never automate just to
eliminate jobs and make more money. We don't take an assembly-line approach to producing LapTopWraps; adopting such an approach would take something essential away from
our Wraps.
Made in America
Each LapTopWrap carries a label proudly stating that it is "conceived, designed, and made" 100% in the USA. We can't vouch for all the materials used in the Wrap;
that we can't control. But each one is constructed here in the US by US citizens and residents. Furthermore, each Wrap is signed by the sewer who made it. We take pride
in our creations!
